The Strong Suits in Me

I believe that each has his/her good and bad side like yin and yang. That is why I also believe that if we have our own flaws, weak spots, or drawbacks, we also have the strong suits in us. I, for one, have my own weaknesses and strengths. And these make me me. Human as I am, I cannot deny the fact that I have limitations. However, I also have assets in me. They may not be the best yet surely, they are not the worst. They may be simple but trust me, they definitely have an important effect on me. My strengths are my biggest assets. And I cling on to them.

One of the gifts that I have ever received and the greatest strength that I have is my family. They make me happy by making me feel loved and by supporting me in what I do and in where I am stuck with. They make me strong despite the problems that we are facing. They are so adorable that just by seeing them happy, I would become the happiest. I am pretty much attached to them, and I do not think I can handle life without them. No matter what happens to the world, may it turn up-side-down, I know that we are always a family. Another asset that I have is my intelligence, I guess. I am not that intelligent but the knowledge that I have is what I consider as my special asset, since I consider sharing what I know as my talent. I dance but I am not an amazing dancer, so I also consider acting or role playing as one of my fortes. I think another asset of mine is on how I speak – though I do not want to talk about this because I am quite unsure of this – since every time I talk, I get compliments or flatters – I do not really know – on how my audience like the way I speak while I have also noticed that when I begin talking, heads turn toward me and great, I just do not like attention. Well, anyway, I know I have to be grateful for everything that I have no matter how small or big it is, so I do not have the right to complain to God and I must always pray for enlightenment so that I would be able to live in content.

My Achilles’ Heel

Everyone is born with a weak spot that sometimes we just try to hide. However, we have to admit the fact that these weak spots make us who we are. We have to embrace them. We have to make them the foundations of who we would want to be. They make us the human beings that we are. In fact, they constantly remind us of our imperfections, reminding us that we need God in our lives. And this explains to me how God is perfect and how He created us perfectly. He has intentionally laid weaknesses on us so that we may turn to Him when we are weak. He has always made sure that we look back to Him and lean on to Him as what a Father would surely want. Thus, we just have to constantly look up to Him and ask for His guidance because that is what He wants.

My weakest point is my family though I consider them my greatest strength too.  This is because they are just too precious to me that I do not want to lose them. What makes them sad makes me sadder. I get very much affected when it comes to them. I just love them so much. That is all. Another Achilles’ heel of mine is my attitude problem. I had this two or three years now. I get in trouble with myself as I cannot help but get so irritable all of a sudden by just some petty irritants. I am trying to control this and I pray to God everyday that this bad habit be gone one day.

My Favorite Bible Verse

“For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”” (Romans 10:13). This Bible verse is taken from one of my most favorite chapters in the Bible’s New Testament. This comes from the book of Romans, chapter ten wherein righteousness and salvation is talked about. The chapter tells me that anyone who believes in the resurrection of Jesus Christ must surely be saved too. However, along this faith must be a heart of virtue or morality and a mouth which preaches his/her own faith on the story of the Son of God. This only means that faith is not just about what we believe in but also doing what we believe in. In this case, I believe that we have to walk our faith and preach it to every individual to whom we come in contact with. This is too idealistic but we have to try. Anyways, it is not just only preaching as in telling people to have faith and they will be saved but also preaching as in acting it out. In this case, they would have faith in your faith and in God’s words and would follow what you are doing in the end.

Romans 10:13 is my most favorite Bible verse. It is because the verse is so simple yet it is so profound.  Yes, it contains the simplest words for us to understand. However, we cannot say that it is that comprehensible to us at all. This is due to the fact that this verse calls for an action, a leap of faith. We realize in this verse that whoever, may the person be rich or poor, old or young, single, married, divorced, or widowed, can be saved. However, this salvation can only be given to those who call out on the name of the Lord. The Lord can only help those who ask for His help. He can only grant salvation to those who believe in it. While another fact that made me like this verse the most is the fact that everyone can be saved as long as all of us know how to call out to the Lord. In other words, this gives me hope.
